Solving the p-Center problem with Tabu Search and Variable Neighborhood Search
نویسندگان
چکیده
The p-Center problem consists of locating p facilities and assigning clients to them in order to minimize the maximum distance between a client and the facility to which he or she is allocated. In this paper, we present a basic Variable Neighborhood Search and two Tabu Search heuristics for the p-Center problem without the triangle inequality. Both proposed methods use the 1-interchange (or vertex substitution) neighborhood structure. We show how this neighborhood can be used even more efficiently than for solving the p-Median problem. Multistart 1-interchange, Variable Neighborhood Search, Tabu Search, and a few early heuristics are compared on smalland large-scale test problems from the literature. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

Lot Streaming in No-wait Multi Product Flowshop Considering Sequence Dependent Setup Times and Position Based Learning Factors
This paper considers a no-wait multi product flowshop scheduling problem with sequence dependent setup times. Lot streaming divide the lots of products into portions called sublots in order to reduce the lead times and work-in-process, and increase the machine utilization rates. The objective is to minimize the makespan. To clarify the system, mathematical model of the problem is presented. Sin...
متن کاملA Combined Stochastic Programming and Robust Optimization Approach for Location-Routing Problem and Solving it via Variable Neighborhood Search algorithm
The location-routing problem is one of the combined problems in the area of supply chain management that simultaneously make decisions related to location of depots and routing of the vehicles. In this paper, the single-depot capacitated location-routing problem under uncertainty is presented. The problem aims to find the optimal location of a single depot and the routing of vehicles to serve th...
متن کاملAPPLICATION OF TABU SEARCH FOR SOLVING THE BI-OBJECTIVE WAREHOUSE PROBLEM IN A FUZZY ENVIRONMENT
The bi-objective warehouse problem in a crisp environment is often not eective in dealing with the imprecision or vagueness in the values of the problem parameters. To deal with such situations, several researchers have proposed that the parameters be represented as fuzzy numbers. We describe a new algorithm for fuzzy bi-objective warehouse problem using a ranking function followed by an applic...
متن کاملThe P-Center Problem under Uncertainty
Facility location decisions play a prominent role in strategic planning of many firms, companies and governmental organizations. Since in many real-world facility location problems, the data are subject to uncertainty, in this paper, we consider the P-center problem under uncertainty of demands. Using Bertsimas and Sim approach, we develop a robust model of the problem as an integer programming...
